Besides conventional and qPCR diagnostics, we are using the Genie II, a portable isothermal amplification instrument that uses can give rapid results on targeted organisms in the field.
In addition, nanopore sequencing with the MinION is a new and powerful technology that permits metagenomic sequencing using a small handheld device. It is used for non-targeted detection of all microorganisms, especially suspected pests or pathogens in an environmental sample.
